Job Description 

PTAC Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada is seeking a proactive Engineer In Training (EIT) to join our team for a summer work term. The successful candidate for the EIT position will have an opportunity to network with a variety of people at the forefront of the oil and gas industry, helping manage projects that will have a significant impact on responsible oil and gas development, with specific focus in the fields of methane emissions reductions and digitization. The EIT will contribute to the scoping, analysis, and implementation of technology development projects and provide hands-on experience in a collaborative team, supporting engineers and project managers to deliver technical excellence. 

Responsibilities 

Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, the Summer Term EIT will be responsible for: 

  • Supporting projects through scoping, drafting, and analysis, ensuring compliance with project proposals and expectations. 
  • Writing briefs and documentation describing technologies and technology development projects. 
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects. 
  • Performing calculations, preparing reports, and analyzing technical data to identify solutions. 
  • Supporting project documentation, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. 
  • Monitoring project progress, budget, timelines, budget and risks, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and proactively taking action when necessary. 

Experience and Skills Required: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or related discipline) from an accredited institution. 
  • Registration: Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). 
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with software tools. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment. 
  • Energetic team player with positive attitude 

Working Conditions 

  • This position includes office and inside work with infrequent travel and exposure to outside hazards. No field operations required. 
  • This is a hybrid position, requiring the contractor to be in-office several days per week in Calgary, with the flexibility to work partially remote, while ensuring consistent access to virtual meeting platforms.
