Alberta Water Tool – Open Access and Enhancements.

Primary Research Organization: Foundry Spatial

Start Date: August 2024

Anticipated End Date:

Project Summary and Scope of Work

The Alberta Water Tool provides public access to information describing the water resources in every waterbody within the main unconventional oil and gas play fairways of Alberta. It allows for oil and gas producers, regulators, and the general public to see how much water is available, considering the natural supply, existing demand, and needs of the environment. There are three distinct components of the project, which address three knowledge gaps identified by AUPRF. The first component involves completing upgrades to the Alberta Water Tool to align the analytics and associated calculations with the Surface Water Allocation Directive and Locally Constrained Area designations of the Government of Alberta.
