Momentum around methane emissions reduction took center stage at the PTAC Methane Leadership Summit 2023, delivered in partnership with the Clean Resource Innovation Network at the Fairmont Banff Springs. The two-day gathering convened a broad mix of stakeholders from across the oil and gas sector, including government and regulatory agencies, energy producers, service and supply companies, researchers, and academic institutions. Building on PTAC’s methane forums launched in 2018, discussions emphasized the urgency of meeting ambitious reduction targets and the need for coordinated industry action. Participants explored how technology innovation, evolving operational practices, and collaboration across the value chain could accelerate progress. Through open dialogue and knowledge sharing, the summit reinforced the importance of collective effort in advancing practical solutions and driving measurable improvements in methane emissions performance.
