Project Summary and Scope of Work
This project addresses challenges associated with methods for quantifying methane leakage from oil and gas industry infrastructure that are used to identify leak detection and repair events, for government reporting, and for determining contributions to greenhouse gas emission (GHG) inventories. The development of a method that can provide leak information on a ppmv basis derived from advanced new leak measurement equipment that measure on a rate basis (e.g., CFM), will allow for the more advanced equipment to be used and simultaneously provide the reporting metrics required by provincial and federal governments. More accurate measurements lead directly to improved environmental performance, and cost reductions via more efficient leak identification for mitigation.
