PTAC invites submissions for a Technical Information Session (TIS) in March focused on advancing practical, risk-based solutions for soils at upstream oil and gas production sites scheduled for reclamation. We’re seeking concise state-of-knowledge abstracts that synthesize current science, including the contributions from the AUPRF program, regulatory context, field learnings, and technology performance in the three areas below.
- Technologies and processes to remove salt contamination (chloride/salinity) from soils on production sites scheduled for reclamation.
- Technologies and processes to remove metal contamination from soils on production sites scheduled for reclamation.
- Technologies and processes to remove heavier hydrocarbon fractions (F2 and F3) from soils on production sites scheduled for reclamation.
What we’re looking for
- Problem framing & regulatory context (e.g., Alberta Tier 1/2, CCME) and where current guidelines enable or constrain practice.
- Technology/process overview (methods, maturity, operating envelope, site conditions, logistics) of new technologies and processes developed under the AUPRF program and elsewhere
- Performance evidence (bench/pilot/field data, KPIs, costs, risk reduction, time to closure) created from the AUPRF program and elsewhere.
- References to AUPRF/RRRC learnings or relevant projects (where public domain).
Who should submit
Operators, consultants, academics, technology developers, and service companies with field-relevant insights—especially those that can show cost, schedule, and risk impacts for reclamation outcomes. This aligns with the Mature Asset Strategy’s focus on salt remediation and F2/F3 contamination.
Format & selection
- Length: ~250–300 words (plus 3–5 key references or links).
- Include: Title, presenter name(s) & organization, contact email, and whether material is public or contains confidential elements.
- Review: Abstracts will be screened by the RRRC technical committee and PTAC staff for profiling of AUPRF relevance, rigour, and applicability to Alberta operations. Preferences for the selected presenters will be given to PTAC members.
