New Project: Process Guide for Approaching Salt Contamination

AUPRF is funding the expansion of a guide for approaching salt-contaminated sites. The guide will document gaps identified in the regulatory process where requirements are unclear. This work will detail proposals to address these gaps, which could potentially be incorporated into the guide in future. To date, Matrix has identified several areas where additional clarification would be valuable and is working to develop more detailed proposals to address those and to allow prioritization of efforts. The focus is on:

  • Improved efficiencies in implementing assessment and remediation of salt-impacted sites by minimizing repeat work (i.e., the need to undertake multiple site characterization and delineation assessments) and improving certainty.
  • Reduced time to wellsite closure and reduction in associated maintenance and other costs.
